condenser or dynamic?

Hi,

I want to mic an electric guitar amp, an acoustic guitar amp and a bass amp for both live gigs and recording sessions - any tips on wether to use condenser or dynamic mics?

Thanks in advance-

nelly

For live uses, you'll want something durable. I'd lean toward some good quality dynamic instrument mics. But there are also some good durable condensers out there too. Shure SM57 is the most popular dynamic. Sennheiser E609 is probably the most popular condenser. Both can be good in the studio too.
