RECORDING ARTS STUDENT IN NEED OF PROFESSIONAL HELP!!

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and attend a junior college studying music industry studies and recording arts, im also taking my general ed so that I can transfer to a 4 year college and get a degree.

I was wondering if anybody had any advice about finding a job in my area that has to do with my major. My problem is that I'm very inexpirenced because its my first year in college. But I consider myself VERY smart around computers, I'm mostly self taught. But I'm a very fast learner as well, I feel that I can take any challenge given to me. I'm thinking maybe I can get an internship at a radio station, or something that has to do with my major. My problem is, I have no where to start. Who do I contact? What kind of resume am I suppose to give them when I've had no prior expirence?

You guys are the experts. Any advice?

If I were you, I'd offer to do some audio work for some companies for free.. this would then build items to place on your resume, plus give you lots of experience. "completed this audio promo for company x" - a an example.

You could contact some people who run podcasts for example and send them some audio content you have made for their show... you might be suprised how this would build for you.

I always need content for example.
