Well my entire life I wanted to be an Audio Engineer, but I never knew this field of work exsisted. To make a long story short, My friend and I will start a band, just like Trent Reznor did
I'm considering applying to an Audio Engineering college. Since I get everything paid from my dad, I wanted to know: What recording equipment would I need to have a home studio. Not included are instruments
I have a lot of free time, money, and no job. I am also considering brushing up my guitar and keyboard skills again by taking lessons
Could anyone help me out by giving me a list of equipment I would need, and recommend some decent to good ones
I'm currently messing around with Fruity Loops 6, if anyone has a better software, could you please tell me
I want to make the best impression I can when I send the school my demo tape. They only require simple beats, but I wanna impress them with actual songs made from samples
Any help is appreciated
Right of now I'm clueless, and am willing to give anything to make this happen. The school I'm going to is in Raleugh, North Carolina
Since it's my first time to a 2 year college like this, any tips would be appreciated

sounds nice.
college paid for by your dad? lots of money, time, and no job? Sounds like quite the life.
The last i checked, Fruity Loops was a PC software, so I'll assume you have a PC. If it's in the budget, I'd start by getting a Mac. Not necessarily because it's best for recording, but because it is what most every professional uses. For the same reason, I'd get a ProTools DAW, because it's the industry standard. Get a lexicon interface. Better MIDI samples. Get a couple condenser microphones (the best you can afford), I'm a big fan of blue or akg. if you're using live drums get a drum mic kit. And a book on how to use of this shit (modern recording techniques is excellent). Have fun.

Thanks, yeah, it's an unfair advantage I have for getting everything paid for. And I really aknowledge all those who work for their finances. Basically all of my friends have to work for their stuff, and I don't which makes me feel bad.
I'll take what you said into consideration henrysugar, I will look into all of that
