Mic'ing crowd/congregations

Hi
This is my first post here and I apologise if this is the wrong place to post this.

I am involved in a church where we are starting to do frequent live recording sessions. One of our main reasons for making it live is to capture the atmosphere and congregations contribution...however, we are continually struggling with recording the congregation.

What microphones/type of microphones would you suggest using and where would be the best place to position them? (at present the congregation will be around 100 people).

Thanks in advance
