Mixing in mono

I am currently recording and mixing down a retro girl group, that sounds like the '60s girl groups. I want the entire CD in mono. I'm using an old Tascam 4-track 1/4" for a multi-tracker, and I'm mastering on a 30 ips half/track 1/2" machine.

To prepare my master tapes to bring to the mastering house, how should I mix down, hard panned either left or right, using only one track of the half track machine, or split mono, sending, pretty much, the same signal equally to both tracks of the half/track?

Thanks for your time

John

I don't think it matters, unless the mastering house has a preference. Just make sure they understand your vision for the sound you want.
