I'm new at this, and could use some help.

My band is recording everything DIY (Do it yourself) using firepod. We're getting tracks down and recording/mixing ourselves.

I'm working on a particular song now called "Drag you Down" and here is my dilemma. I did one mix that can be found here: http://www.myspace.com/thethem

Its ok...for free. As a goof I did a slowed down, towntuned mix (in Acid 4.0) of the song, and OH MY GOD everything just works. Its as if the mix I did works better downtuned and slowed down 4 steps.

My question is...what am I missing? How can I get this fantastic guitar tones and speerations in my real final mix? How come everything came together when I downtuned it and slowed it down as a goof?

Here is the downtuned, slowed down version: http://the-them.com/Drag%20you%20Down%20(SLUDGE-DEATH)%20version.mp3

THanks in advance.

hi,
you may want to try compressing the mid frequencies more than the his and lows with a multi-band compressor.
