2 Chan mic pre/DI around 1k
(NOTE: I Posted this in PC Music Recording as well...I'm not sure where to post about "outboard gear.")
Hello everyone. I am a 20 year old college student producing my own music and other people's music on the side for some extra cash. I have a project studio set up in my basement and as of late have learned how to yield better and better results.
I am still a newbie (I haven't really TRIED to learn until recently, the rest of the time I was dicking around) but I feel I know enough to contribute positive input about the products I own/have tried to the forum. I also can tell a lot of NEWbies what NOT to do, because I learned a few things the hard way.
All help is greatly appreciated, and I will try to reciprocate as much as I can.
Much love,
- Bill
Right now I am looking at one of those Hamptone kits (I would get it assembled though, I have no experience with putting together preamps).
Music: Modern Rock, Acoustic Rock, Classic Rock, Punk Rock, Pop Punk, etc. etc. etc. After you read my current set up list it will become glaringly obvious that some kind of higher end mic pre is needed. I have gotten by okay with the Aardvark Pres but it's time to step it up!
NOTE: I am in the process of treating my room (tracking AND mixing in same room) and I have a nice sounding guitar set up (Fender Blues Jr., Princeton Chorus, Fender Strat, Gibson Les Paul, Guild Acoustic)
MY CURRENT SET UP:
Interface/Outboard/Effects/DSP Card
Computer Interface: Aardvark Q10 (8 Preamps, Clock, Digital Converters, Soundcard)
Keyboards/Midi: Triton Extreme 88 Key
Signal Processors: Presonus Eureka (EQ, Compression) and FMR Audio RNC (Compressor) **Thinking about selling the Presonus due to the fact that it is a piece of shit lol....
Additional Preamp: Eureka w/ digital out (includes compressor and EQ) and FMR Audio’s RNP
Effects: TC Powercore Element (Additional Plugs for Powercore: Noveltech’s Character)
Reamp: Radial X-Amp
Monitors
Pair of Event 20/20’s
Microphones
Large Diaphragm Condensers (vocals, etc.): Rode NTK and Groove Tube GT55
Drum: Audix DP5
Dynamics (Amp Cabs/Miscellaneous): SM57 and Blue Ball
Small Diaphragm Condenser : Octava MKII
Software
Mixing: Sonar 3 Producer
Misc.: BFD Drum Module, IK Multimedia Amplitube (Amp Simulation)
Mastering: IK Multimedia T-Racks
