Sound card question

Any recomendations on what kind of sound card I should buy would be greatly appreciated. I will recording an acoustic guitar, vocals, keyboard or mic'd piano, and possibly electric guitar/mandolin. I'd like to be able to record the vocals and the acoustic guitar/piano at the same time occasionally. I'm running a Window XP machine with plenty of memory and cpu. Thanks in advance!

I would urge you to research into the external audio interface market, looking for perhaps 2 inputs coming in on firewire or USB. The thing to look for (as in all digital equipment) is a recommendation for quality analogue to digital convertors (ADC).

This box (though not a tip of the tongue magazine product) looks like a fantasic bit of kit: http://www.sounddevices.com/products/usbpremaster.htm

I quite fancy one myself, some very good specifications.

Good Experience

I have had a lot of luck with the M-Audio stuff. They have some great PCI and firewire gear, have quiet preamps and now... Big Deal: work with Pro Tools... Check out www.m-audio.com - good website, too.
