Using a Kawai K4 as a controller keyboard

Hi, I'm new to the world of midi. I have been using Reason 3.0 to produce music for some time now. I've been trying to save up for a Controller Keyboard so I don't have to create notes with a mouse click.

I just picked up a Kawai k4 keyboard off a friend and bought a computer midi cable. I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to use my keyboard to make music through reason or anyother software.

The Synthesiser has midi IN midi OUT and midi THROUH on the back and the cable runs from the Synth to my PC.

That's where I got stuck, any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Breault.

I used to have a K4 sound module, some great sounds in that box.

You just hook up the MIDI out of the K4 into your MIDI in on your sound card, if you have one, and set up the record channels in the software to recieve MIDI in. Typically the K4 will output on all 16 MIDI channels so you can assign one channel to each sound in your software.

Hope that helps.
