8-Track to PC
I plan on buying a Fostex MR-8 8-track then transfering tracks using a USB cable to may pc. I have Acid Music Studio 6.0 (a papr mans ver of acid pro) for my mixing and burning. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this or something like it, and how good the finished songs come out?
I know this is a newbish post but they, I am a newb to recording.

acid
I used to record with my Yamaha MT4X 4-track casstette recorder and Acid Music 2.0.
But it's probably not quite what you have in mind for your setup.
The one thing that was really lacking in Acid was flexibility with effects inserts on each channel. Acid 6 might have improved on that area, though.
The mixes weren't awesome, but that's probably due more to the fact that I was a noob and had junkier gear. I guess they were good considering what else I had to work with. I'll see if I can dig something out from my hard drive and post it on my website and give you a link.

Don't exactly know if it will work with that machine using USB or not. But, in looking at the specs. it does say that it has .wav import and export. Don't know how much troouble you would have syncing them in Acid.
I have done it using Sonar and sending 8 multitracks by ADAT lightpipe from my Fostex D-160 to the computer and then just inporting the .wav files for each of the 8 tracks into Sonar as well as Adobe Audition with no problems. So, I would think that should work.
