No more analog tape? or at least an extreme shortage.

Tape
Do you still use it?
If so for what? _________________ Recording Studio Suntans

tape
I've never used it. I'm too new to the field.
Actually, in one of the classes I took we used it just so we knew how, but about the exent of it. I think it's expensive and cumbersome.
My ears weren't fine tuned to hear the difference between analog and digital at that point either. They probably still aren't.
So personally, I won't miss it-- or won't know what I'm missing.
Just wanted to know what some other more seasoned audiophiles thought.

External Unit
I heard many pros simply use it as an effect now, much like an external effect unit. To give a tape sound to whatever.
But I also heard many pro recordings are still recorded on tape, if then tranferred to digital later for editing.
I'm sure the Chilli Peppers catalogue is recorded this way. _________________ Recording Studio Suntans
