What causes a Preamp to have different Colours and Flavors?
Some Preamps are clean and transparent but i want preamps that have
Alot of colour and Flavors to add to the sound what causes this effect?

I want to get the most coloration for PRE PRODUCTION
DO you know any POST PRODUCTION- coloration tricks
i would like to have alot of tracks with alot of coloration
what should i do or want gear do i need to get to this or
produce this type of coloration Mixing

Yes me to PRE PRODUCTION
is like the amp type , speakers used, mic position, mic type , mic preamp
mic compressor
All this from PAIRing different combinations will have Different
colourations
COLORATION mean to me: the mic preamp , guitar preamp , compressor
SET AT UNITY GAIN just want to hear the circuit
TONE/TIMBRE/VOICing of the design to add Coloration
Im looking for what causes alot of coloration what gear like what
compressors , mic preamps , guitar preamps and how do i
ampilify this coloration i would like alot of it in my tracking and mixing?

Every thing you use will color the sound, the cheaper the box the more colour typically, it's not rocket science. _________________ Recording Studio Suntans

But how do i make my mix with alot coloruation
do i need to duplicate every track like 3 to 5 times
and put like 8 different cheap preamps and compressors
at unity gain what do i need to do i want my mix with alot
of colouration right now its just to DRY i want more COLOURATION
what do i need to do ?

Im talking more about using a Mic preamp and a compressor
or a audio Transformers at unity gain for colouration
Electronic coloration the circuit or design at unity gain
DRY MIX VS WET MIX reverbs and delays
DRY MIX VS PROCESSING MIX thats using Time based effects
DRY MIX VS COLOURATION MIX this is what i want to use

do you think putting a D.I unit in the send and return because its
a audio transformer in D.I units can add colouration to the sound?
So i should put like a D.I on every track?

how about trying these things you talk about and let us know how they go?
as far as coloration, it's usually frequency reponse and harmonic distortion that are affected by devices like preamps, dynamics, and eqs.

easiest way to change frequency response is by using an eq. you can tailor whatever response you want.
you can get harmonic distortion by running the signal through just about any circuit. this just means that harmonic content (overtones) is altered by the circuit.
most manufacturers try to have as little Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) as possible. If you want this distortion, use the cheapest piece of solid-state equipment you can find. (tubes work too, but they're generally more expensive). anything will work, from rack gear to guitar pedals-- even biuld your own.
look up the specs in the manual on your gear to see if the manufacturer lists the THD%. --take that into consideration when buying gear, too.
